WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON?

Jesus explained, the world is divided into two parts, ‘the narrow road and the wide road. And he goes on to say, ‘enter through the narrow gate’ Matt. 7:13-14.

Life is a journey, the journey you take determines your destiny.

The world is divided into two parts, according to the scripture above, which means there are two kinds of people. Those on God side and those who aren’t.  In other words, those on the right and those on the left.  Jesus said, when he comes in his glory and all the angels with him he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. And all nations will be gathered before him, and he’ll separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He’ll put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Matt 25:31-33. Jesus explained again in, John 8:12-47, to help us understand this scenario.

This is an important decision we must make in life, whether to be on his side or not.  As you know, we are aware of the good and the bad. Every human being has both. Jesus was the only one who was without  sin.

As mentioned from the beginning, Adam and Eve messed it for us, when they listened to Satan.  So, Jesus wants us to be clear, God is  good and Satan is bad.  Nowadays, most of the games the children play contains this philosophy.  And if you ask kids which side they would want to be on, obviously, they’ll all take the good side. Furthermore, none of us would want to be on the bad side of life.  We all want things to go well for us. (the happy good side)

The scripture says, man was made in God’s image.  It took me a long time to understand this. Thank God now I understand.  It all goes back to the goodness of God.  God is good as mentioned earlier, so, part of us, as we know is good. Consequently, we act in a good way, but the bad part (sin) of us is connected to Satan.  A scripture says, God is good to everyone and He shows compassion on all creatures. Psalm 145:9

Recently, I spoke to a gentleman who believed in evolution rather than God. I asked him if he had children, of which he said he had. I asked again, do you want your children to be good or bad? That caught him by surprise. Eventually, he ended up mentioning the good and evil. Our conversation helped him to think about the spiritual side other than evolution, because as you know, the spiritual side of us is connected to the physical side.

So, to be on God side is a personal decision, no one will ever make it for you. What helps us to make that decision? Firstly, we need knowledge, which God has provided through the Bible, and then understanding.  Many of us understand that the Bible was written by men of God, who were led by God’s own Holy Spirit. Once we are clear in our minds on that, we get to understand that there is no single lie in the Bible, for God wanted his word to be delivered in truth, so he had to make sure he uses his power to protect it.

Moving on, when someone is on his side they’re protected in Jesus. The Bible says, sin separates us from God, meaning when we do bad things we get separated.

The Bible says, we all had gone astray from God, meaning we want to do whatever we want despite the consequences. (disobedient to God) But at the same time, God wants to save us from the calamity awaiting us because of disobedience.

Now that we understand, let’s go back to the question, whose side are you on? There is something Jesus mentioned, which is, to be born again. John 3:1-21. It is a scripture many of us are familiar with, try to comprehend but sometimes fail, due to lack of knowledge. However, by God’s grace, I’m going to lay it out here as I have done previously.

We go through the first stage of unawareness of God, until we hear the message.  In my experience, I became aware when I was about six. To cut the story short, I came to a point in my life when it all became clear to me.  And I had to understand that when we are on his side we become children of God. I John 3. Therefore, to be born again, means to become a child of God.

To be on his side or a child of God requires us to have faith in God and Jesus, and focus on doing good, because God is good. Those on his side walk in the light, which means they understand what God says about Jesus, and take obedience seriously. Jesus said, anyone who repents and turn to God through him, there is rejoicing in heaven – it pleases God. Luke 15:7. This means they’ve turned from (Satan)darkness to light (God). Does this mean we don’t make mistakes? Of course not!  When one is on his side, there’re aware of a sin, and take godly guidance to heart. It is impossible, as you know, to be perfect, however much we try. But God wants us to be humble and try our best in living a life that pleases him. 2 Peter 1:5-10.

Sometimes we make mistakes without even being aware, but in most cases, we are aware. For example, as you have noticed in this blog when I make a mistake I correct it. Likewise, in our walk with God, we should correct our mistakes consistently – repentance. Jesus’ message is, be serious and get rid of sin.

Jesus said, walk in the light – in his ways (obedience).  Children of God, take instructions seriously, have deep convictions.  As mentioned earlier, they focus on doing good in the eyes of the loving Father in Heaven. They seek his wisdom and apply it. This also helps us to understand that it is important to focus more on the good side of a person.

It is crucial to understand this, because someone may go to church or a religious meeting and are still not God side, because they ignore the godly guidance. The Bible was written for God’s people, as a training platform – a way of living which produces full blessings.

Furthermore, God wants us to understand it’s not about different beliefs people have acquired from different sources, it’s about loving him. We are all aware of different beliefs, passed down from generations, and has caused divisions which has affected us in so many ways. For example, in Christianity, Protestants and Catholics had serious conflicts – contrary to the message of Christ which is about love and kindness.

Nevertheless, God wants us to understand all his prophets before Jesus, pointed to his beloved Son. And all of them would say, listen to Jesus and do what he says, for salvation is through him. God didn’t choose any other prophet to be a sacrifice for our sins, he chose his own Son. He chose Jesus, because he had total holiness without blemish – without sin.

So being on his side means loving him, and if you love Almighty God from the heart, you obey Jesus’ commands.  And if you honour God, you honour his Son also. John 5:16-47.

In addition, God wants us to think and understand the truth about him. He wants us to figure things out, for he has given us clues.  For instance, we all experience the good times and the bad times. The good times brings happiness and peace, as opposed to the bad times that carries sadness.

When we make good decisions we reap blessings and when we make bad decisions we get disoriented and unhappy.  As you know, we all want to be in a happy place, or where there is a celebration.  Jesus said, there is a happy place prepared for God’s people, but a sad place for those who are not. Luke 16:19-31.  So, to reap a harvest of happiness, he advises us to focus on being good, and to walk in love.   A scripture says, whoever loves life and wants to see good days, must turn away from evil and do good; must seek peace and pursuit it. I Peter 3:10-12

THE KING OF ALL

Jesus is the King of all human beings.  The Holy Bible says; He is above all angels and his name is above all names, and before him every knee will bow – Philippians 2:10.  And then he says; all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. (Mat. 28) He is the chief adviser on life and faith, because he knew how God and a human being operates in every detail, so he says; love your enemy, do good, instead (Math. 5:43-45)  Think about it, what happens when you help your enemy, if he or she is desperately thirsty and you give them a glass of water?  In most cases, a heart will soften, for Love is stronger than hate. We all encounter people who don’t like us for one reason or another, that’s why his advice is paramount.

Note; he didn’t say, tell your enemy to love you, in most cases, it doesn’t work.  For, it’s your responsibility to deal with your own heart.  You’re responsible for your actions!  You are no.1 in your life. You have to deal with yourself first before you deal with someone else.  In other words, save yourself first before you save someone else.

He says; do to others as you would want them do to you.  Let’s face it, we all want to be loved, or be treated in a good way.  Who in this world would want an enemy on their side?  But then again, you learn from your enemies as well as your friends.  With your enemies, you learn that they’re acting in weakness and in many cases, they are confused and don’t know what they’re doing.  And from those who love you, you learn strength, for they know what they’re doing. The love, Jesus is talking about is not connected to any sin, because sometimes we can manipulate feelings selfishly.

When you read the Bible, you see the beginning and the end. The Bible talks about everything in detail.  But I used to have a nagging question, why other religions?  It is a question many people may ask as well.  I couldn’t get the  answer from people.  I needed to ask God instead.  It took a long time for me to get an answer, but as I kept on examining the scriptures, I found the answer in Daniel, and I John: 2. Jesus knew other religions will come into the world, and he said, all these things must happen, (Math. 24). However, he says; I’m the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except though me. John 14:6.

Jesus did everything out of pure love for Yahweh God and man kind.  And in him there was no fault.  He states, what is in the mind of a person will come out in their actions.  A good tree will produce good fruits (good actions) and then he says he is that tree and then those who are in him are the branches. John 15:1. And then  he said:  he’s been given authority to judge, (Math. 25:31). Someone may say, hang on, you are preaching something we  already know. True! But there is also someone out there who doesn’t know and needs to know.

THE HEART OF GOD

We all have someone who touches our hearts deeply more than others, a number one or a favourite person, so to speak.  The one we love more than others.

You may ask, what does this got to do with God?  Okay, the Bible says, we are made in God’s image, which means we have inherited his characters (the good side of us.)  Gen.1:27

Consequently, the heart of God is Jesus.  He is his special number one, his one and only begotten son who has never sinned.  He is the only one Yahweh God connected with totally. That’s why God wants us to listen to every word Jesus said.  Philippians 1:9. God exalted him to the highest place, and gave him a name that is above every name, and at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, in heaven, and on earth and under the earth. And every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

As mentioned before, God created everything through his son. He put Jesus above every other person he has ever created.  When it comes to understanding God and his word, one must look  in the Bible.  For, it helps us to understand everything that needs to be known. Relatively speaking, the heart of God is the Holy Bible, for He speaks and acts through it.  I Tim. 3. All scripture is God breathed, and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

When God Almighty sent Jesus on earth, He had to make sure he was in total perfection to deliver his message, and to accomplish his plan of salvation.

THE WRITING ON THE WALL

water-g

Have you ever wondered why we are here or why God created the world?  Or, what is the purpose behind some of the things we see?  The answer is always in the Bible.  The Almighty God has given us signs which relate to his Son.  Every God’s creation carries a message about his Son.  The scriptures says, ‘God created the world through Jesus’. John 1:3, Colossians 1

Below are some of the signs, which point to Jesus, and God’s Kingdom.

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth….it will  accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:10-11

HUMAN BEINGS

dd-008-2

As human beings God designed us with a very high intelligence which is above other creatures.  As you know, we can analyse, reason, explore our imagination, etc.

All of us are clever in our own way, and it all depends on whether we want to push that extra mile. We are experts when it comes to scrutinising, and managing given situations or tasks.

We have a big capacity to process information, hence keeping some of it or filter out what we don’t want.

As you aware, we start each day with decisions and reasoning.  We spend a lot of time thinking about what we need to, want to do, don’t want to do, or didn’t manage to do, etc.  and end up giving reasons.

Jesus mentioned something that resonates with my mind from time to time; to imitate the attitude of little children.  There is a lot we can learn from children, especially when it comes to handling life, for they have in built godly wisdom.  And when it comes to learning about God, they’re very receptive.

They’re also very smart, but school can be a pressure ground, where tasks are decided for them. However, in their mind, they think about, why they need to do a task, and the benefits. In most cases, whatever  information they get fed, they’re only going to decide what they want to do. Which means, as they get older, thinking about what’s necessary for themselves is crucial.

I’m one of those people who believe there is no need to put pressure on children with intensive exams. We all know, it is good to learn the necessary skills from here and there, but to put pressure on a child to a point where they’re stressed out, and scared of school is something to  reconsider. (just an observation)

Going back to the first point, when you read the Bible, you get to understand that God wants us to use our thinking ability, thus thinking clearly through understanding and knowledge.

I remember the first time I heard about evolution, I got confused. The Bing-bang theory didn’t make any sense at all.  The monkey theory, that human beings evolved from a monkey didn’t make sense either. I thought to myself, how come monkeys are still monkeys and we are still humans. When I thought about God’s message, I knew the Bible is spot on. It explains everything. God’s word cannot be beaten.

The fact that Jesus used parables as a way of communication, indicates that God wants us to think deeply.  Secondly, he wants us to acknowledge that we need  help when it comes to understanding his message. Even though we are clever, God knows we are limited, that’s why he used Jesus and the Holy Spirit to play a crucial role, to help us understand his word (Holy Bible). The people who wrote the Bible had to be directed by God and Jesus, to avoid any errors.

Sometimes as you know, human beings can be proud, thinking they can figure out things without his help. Wrong. It is impossible without God’s help. For a pot without a maker, there is no pot.

The purpose of life, is to get it right before God.  He doesn’t want us to miss the point, in other words, he doesn’t want us to miss out, when it comes to his salvation through Jesus.

WE ALL NEED HELP

water-g

God Almighty our creator knows we need help, for without him we can’t function.  So he has to make sure this world he created functions according to his will.

The right amount of oxygen and carbon dioxide is released in the atmosphere for all living things to survive.  The sun has to be at the right position from the earth.   Genesis 1:14 God said, let there be lights from expanse of the sky to separate the day from night, and let them serve as signs to mark the seasons, days and years.  And let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on earth.  God made two great lights, the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. And God saw it was good.

Jesus said, God is always at work.  So he is busy working behind the scenes.  He looks after all creatures great and small.  That’s a big job to handle, only God can do it.  So talking about work, this is work at its best.

We all have our own tasks to handle.  And sometimes our tasks can be too difficult to handle, causing us to give up.  However, perseverance helps us to go a long way.  Most of our tasks require reasoning.  Why do we do it, and what are the benefits?  God allows us to work because it is good for us. Laziness is not good for us.

Remember we acquired God’s characters, and one of them is determination.  When he decides to do something he does it as he did right from the beginning.  Relatively, when we are determined to do something we get on with it.  God gives energy, without it nothing can be done.  He made sure every creature gets enough energy to act accordingly.

Weakness is not good, for God wants us to be strong in faith and actions.  According to the Bible many of our weaknesses are brought about by Satan.  One of them is fear.  Fear, as you know, brings insecurity.  Satan’s character is to be bad in everything. Satan manipulates fear to our disadvantage, for example, fear of stepping into faith, etc. The scripture says, there is no fear in love.  1 John 4:18.  Love crosses difficult barriers.  In essence, we all need God’s love. God put a portion of love in each and everyone of us, as you know,  without it, we can’t  give or take.

Sometimes, we forget how loving and patient God is.  For without his amazing generousity and kindness, we wouldn’t enjoy life. The scripture says, don’t be deceived…every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father in heaven.

God planned that every human being needs Jesus, when it comes to his salvation.  The holiness God requires from us, can only be obtained through his Son.  He says it in the scriptures, so it’s up to us to accept it or not.  Acts 4:17.  Salvation is found in no one else, there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.

A TREASURE IN YOUR GARDEN

purple

I love the beauty of gardens, and walking through them gives me that sense of joy.  Our lives can be like a garden.  So your life is your own garden and you’re the farmer. There is a hidden treasure (seed of faith) in your garden, and guess what, a lot of people don’t know it. When I realised it I started digging!  How?  I looked up to God and looked deep into my own life, and realised the mistakes I was doing. And after praying I realised the treasure has always been around me (the Bible) and the seed which was planted in me when I heard the message about Jesus, needed to grow into a health plant.

A Christian garden is an eye opener.  After humbling myself before God, I started reading the Bible and set my heart on repenting of my sins and obedience.  I then got baptised.  God opened my mind and I received the Holy Spirit.  I now have to work on my self, and do what is necessary to please God.  Nowadays, the first thing I do in the morning is to pray, and then read the scriptures.   When I choose a praise song to sing to the Lord,  I have to like it.

flw2

There was a time in my life when I was eating bad fruits which were draining and unproductive, so I decided that I’m not going to waste time on bad fruits (bad decisions), so I try my best to avoid them as much as I can.  And I know that, for my rehabilitation I need the word of God, so that I can plant good seeds as well as eating good fruits, and in the end to reap a harvest (Salvation).

When I was young and living in the village, we had a routine of planting food crops. We would cultivate the plantations by digging out the weeds first, in order for the crops to grow properly.

I relate this to my Christian garden (life), bearing in mind that I can’t do it without God’s help.  But at the same time, I have to do my part with the tools He has given me.  So I eat the fruit of that comes from the Bible.  I decided that I need the food every day which requires me to read and meditate on it.  And then I realised that for me to grow in the way God wants me to, I needed to put it into practice. When I get little weeds in my garden which I know Satan is responsible, I make decision to pull them out before they ruin my precious garden, which requires me to repent of my sins and confess.

I then realised that in the Christian garden, Jesus is the tree of life, so He is my saviour, my leader, my best friend, my teacher/preacher and when it comes to Yahweh God, He has the final say.  Guess what, once I planted this in my heart, I found myself changing from inside out.  In the end my little garden blossomed with fruits of joy, fruits of courage, fruits of hope, fruits of peace and love.

I realise that by planting seeds of love I can help, and encourage someone else, not only in Christian meetings, but in other areas of communication. I’m pretty sure we all need fruits of love, such as joy, giving, kind-heartedness, forgiveness, good communication and peacefulness;

– To strengthen Christian congregations

– To strengthen a marriage

– To strengthen family networks

– To cultivate good friendships

– To develop good working relationships

In my own garden, I also realise that every little thing matters; an encouraging word and a good action go a long way.  So when I get the drought days, I remind myself of the little things I need to do to help me get back on the joy track.

And a daily prayer is my way of eating that delicious meal, which I need to give me the strength to fight some of my battles.  I keep reminding myself, now that I have Jesus in my life; I have to do my best to keep life simple, by focusing on his wisdom, and putting it into practice, so no worries.

LOVING GOD

bible

Have you ever been in love? When your heart is devoted to someone; most of us have.  It all begins when we are very young. Little children normally love their parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends a lot.  Doing that makes them  happy.

Loving someone deeply as you know, makes us  happy.  We end up praising them by talking about them and stating how wonderful they are.  The process, begins by admiring their qualities, and then we get to know them by spending time with them, i.e. by talking and listening.  Subsequently, we end up doing what pleases them, by saying, ‘I love you’.  And eventually, we end up with a relationship which is based on submission (obedience).  Just like a loving relationship in a marriage between a husband and wife, where being faithful to each other is at heart.  According to the Bible, this is synonymous to the relationship between God, and a believer in Christ.

Loving God, begins when we admire his qualities, and acknowledge who he is as the Creator.  Recognising the beauty of all his creations and how wonderfully we are made, makes us praise him.  God made it in a way, that we cannot escape him.  His creations are all around us, to help us  think about him.  This brings me to a saying, ‘a person can run away from anyone, but cannot run away from God’. The secret to happiness is to love God and Jesus.  How do we do it?  One may ask!  Jesus gave us  tips, when he said, ‘love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength’. (Do what pleases him).

When he mentions loving God with all your  mind and heart, I used to struggle to understand the difference. It is only recently when it all became clear to me.  For example, as you know, we put all kinds of thoughts in our minds.  For what we put in our minds affects the way we feel.  So the heart is where all our desires, and feelings are stored.  Jesus said, out of the overflow of the heart your mouth speaks.  And also what comes out of our thoughts will determine our actions.

He also explained, in John 14 &15.  And in John 14:21, he says, whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father in heaven, and I too will love him/her and show myself to them.

When Jesus says, love God with all your heart; it  means to be sincere and humble when it comes to obedience.  Also another way of putting it , we shouldn’t doubt our faith in God.  So in the end, we respect and honour him by putting his thoughts (Biblical scriptures) into our minds through faith.  Jesus says, we have to do what pleases him to show our love.  As mentioned in the Bible, to focus on God through Jesus and  do what is good.

WHAT IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?

pink

Many people in the spiritual world don’t know what this means.  The Holy Spirit is a powerful force God (YHWH- His name) the creator of heaven and earth uses to communicate with people.  His name is not easy to pronounce, but in English it is translated as Jehovah, in Hebrew it is translated as Yahweh.  This is the name He revealed to the early prophets, such as Moses, Abraham etc.

Jesus (Yesuah) explained in John 16, the purpose of the Holy Spirit.

  1. To preach the truth
  2. To counsel us
  3. To convict us of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness
  4. To remind us of judgement
  5. To guide us in all truth
  6. To strengthen our faith
  7. To encourage us

God put a conscious in every one of us, in regard to the knowledge of good and evil, which happened in Eden.  We are all aware of two voices speaking to us, in regard to sin.  One says, do the right thing as opposed to the other.

The Holy Spirit as Jesus says, convicts us of sin, and reminds us to do the right thing, especially where God and Jesus are concerned.

In Galatians 5:22, we learn more: that the Holy spirit produces love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in a believer.  Note: A believer who is obedient gains much joy in Christ and will be saved.

Jesus said, the Holy spirit can only operate through him, therefore pointing us to all areas of righteousness, e.g. praying, reading his word and putting it into practice, encouraging each other in meetings, etc.

The Holy Spirit will always remind us to be obedient to God and Jesus.  God and Jesus are attached 100%. Obedience to Jesus is obedience to God.

The Holy Spirit also opens our minds to understand the Bible, to prophesy, and reminds us, that salvation (forgiveness of our sins) is only found in Jesus Christ and  Christianity.  As you can see, the Holy spirit is using me in this blog to prophesy (meaning to tell the truth about God).  Salvation is found in one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. Acts 3:12.  Jesus also says, anyone who asks God for the holy spirit, will receive.  And you can only receive if you obey. Acts 5:32.

Jesus says, if you love me you’ll obey what I command. And I’ll ask the Father, and he’ll give another Counsellor (Holy Spirit) to be with you forever. The Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name will teach you all things, and will remind you of everything I have said to you. John 14

The Holy Spirit does not make people fall over, nor does it make a preacher blow and make people fall on the ground.  People fall because of imbalance and emotions, which also  happens at weddings.  I know this will surprise some people who believe this is the case.  How do we know this?  Because of the scriptures, e.g. fruit of the spirit above. There is nowhere in the Bible that supports falling over. The idea of falling over is a man’s idea, it is not God’s will.  I’d advise anyone who practices this to search the scriptures for themselves.  A preacher who uses this tactic is sending out a message that they have power, or has a misunderstanding.  I’m not judging  because I know some people believe that’s what they should do.  However,  I’m just stating out a fact which other Christians are concerned about.  God wants anyone who preaches to portray a humble attitude; to put the congregation above themselves. For God wants us to worship in truth, peace and order.

Jesus did something we believers have to learn from, especially if you are in leadership, or are among the sheep (followers). To wash each other’s feet (serving one another with a humble attitude, and doing acts of kindness). John 13:12-17.

God used the Holy spirit to do miraculous wonders, like making the disciples speak in different languages, so that the listeners would understand what was being preached. Acts 2.  Nowadays, we  learn all kinds of languages through education, part of the reason is to preach the gospel to the world. For example, English has played a major part in various parts of the world.

And this is the issue, it is impossible to be a Christian/born again without the Holy Spirit. John 3:5-8.  When we receive the Holy Spirit, our mind and actions change to the godly guidance. The word gets into our mind, and we get moulded by God through the Bible and the Holy Spirit.  The Bible also gives us a clue,  after Baptism, which is pledging a good conscious before God, we receive the Holy spirit. Acts 2:32-41.

In Romans 8:1-17, it says, those who live according to the sinful nature have set their minds on their sinful desires, but those who live according to what the Holy spirit have set their minds on what Jesus and God desires.  And those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.  Any one who does not have the spirit of Christ does not belong to God.

bibleFor this to happen, it all depends on your heart.  When we have a good heart we seriously listen to God and Jesus.

PRAYER

flwyellow

The most effective calming force a human being can engage in; a gift from God.

–          To help us to connect to him.

–          A way of worshiping him.

–          A way of releasing our problems/burdens to Him.

Jesus did just that, when he prayed for himself and released his heartfelt situations to the Father.

And then he prayed for the believers; he knew there would be divisions among churches because of human imperfections and misunderstandings, which somehow saddened him.

So, he prayed for unity – meaning genuine believers are united in him.  It saddens him, when genuine Christians judge each other.  (I remember going to  church and a friend in Christ said to me, you’re not one of us, because you were not baptised by us.)  And I remember saying if Jesus was here, what would he say?  He is the tree and we are the branches, and he commands us to love each other.  He is the Bible, and so whoever reads the Holy Bible and puts it into practice is in Jesus.  And if any one wants to connect to God properly they have to pray through Jesus’ name.

And according to Jesus’ wisdom, our prayers have to be specific and reasonably short, (Mt. 6-14).  He advises us, that we should pray individually in a solitary quiet place; which is just you and God.  When you look into the Bible you can see how he used to retreat to the mountains to pray by himself.  He also encourages us to pray together.

The way he taught us how to pray, is the main way God wants us to pray to Him.  (The most important prayer, Matthew 6:9-13)  Every line is significant and straight to the point. The first line is acknowledging that God is our Father in heaven.  And that he should be honoured, and his name should be sanctified.

He mentions ‘your kingdom come’, which means God’s Kingdom should be in our hearts and in our lives. The Kingdom represents his words, plan and salvation, which in the end will be established.

He mentions ‘His will be done’, which means it is important to understand that God’s will is better than ours.  He decides what to do on earth as he did in heaven.  And we can’t even argue with Him. So, we have to accept God’s will in order to have  peace of mind.

Our daily bread,’ when you think about it, God provides most our needs and we don’t even need to ask him.  For example,  food is plenty all the time, and all we need to do is to get it.  In this case, I think Jesus means wisdom and Holy Spirit.  Jesus referred to himself as our daily bread, and he said, he is life. John 6:35.  We always have to pray for guidance and wisdom.  And also to pray for every situation that bothers our minds.  For each day comes with its own issues.

And then he says, forgive us our sins’.  This is easy to understand, because when we sin it is important to ask God forgiveness.  For this is a way of humbling ourselves when we acknowledge that we have sinned against God.  And then we have to remember, that to be forgiven, we also have to forgive. Matt. 6;14-15.   He also advises us, that if you’ve sinned against someone – go to them and apologise to create peace.  But his first message is, make every effort to avoid sinning.

And then he says, ‘let us not into temptations’…this is crucial, because it is not good to fall into temptation or Satan’s trap.  So, we should always pray to keep away from temptation grounds, but if we get tempted we should be adamant to say no, for this strengthens our faith.  A sin can weaken/destroy our faith if we fall into it, so it is better to keep away.  Temptations affect the heart and are brought about by Satan.  So when you face one…Pray! Jesus urged Peter to pray about the temptation.

And then he says, deliver us from evil’. This is crucial and critical, because it is not good to be in Satan’s trap. It is a state of destruction, for we want to be saved.  When you find your self in a trap… pray and get out!

According to Jesus we shouldn’t use many words because we end up repeating ourselves.  And he says, ‘God knows what you are thinking’.  And it seems like we shouldn’t keep on asking God for things, or we end up praying for things which He had already decided to give us, before we even opened our mouths.

Let me give you an example, non believers; they get almost everything they need.  And guess what, they don’t even pray.  As a scripture says, God makes the sun shine on everybody. John 5:43-45  He shows his kindness to everyone.

So the most important thing is to pray for our spiritual needs, as mentioned in the Lords prayer.  It is crucially  important to pray from the heart; to be humble and sincere. Think about every line from the Lord’s Prayer seriously with a heart of repentance.  And it is also important to make sure we thank him for every blessing, even when things are tough.

Jesus said, seek his kingdom first, and all these things will be added on to you. Matt. 6:33

Praying  in the morning  and at night  is crucial to get us energised spiritually.  Some Christians pray using a new tongue.  (Pentecostal churches use this a lot, I cor.13)  They feel, it also helps them in stress.  But my favourite Prayer is which Jesus emphasised on above.  I always look forward to it, knowing that it is our guidance.  And Every time I pray, it touches my heart deeply.
