WHAT YOU SAY

When you understand the Bible, you get to realise how important it is, especially when it comes to understanding God and life. This is the issue; God created us with the ability to communicate and reason.  It is a gift, but it has consequences, for what we say define who we are.

There is something I’ve been reading and it has helped me to understand it more. Jesus said, ‘Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will bad, for a tree is recognised by its fruit’.  Which I believe,  he means we are like trees. The fruits are our thoughts and actions.  And he goes on to say, ‘out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks’ A good person brings good stored in them, as opposed to a bad person who stores the bad.  So here we learn that, what is on our hearts will come out in  words and actions.  And then he says, but I tell you that man-kind will have to give account on the day of judgement, for every word they have spoken.  For by your words you’ll be acquitted and by your words you’ll be condemned. Matt. 12:33-37

Ooh… I don’t know about you, but this gets me thinking and to be alert. This is serious stuff and we have to know it.  Remember what Jesus says is what God Almighty – the Creator says.  As human beings, we prefer someone to tell us the truth, especially if it is good for us.  It is like when the Doctor says, you have a bad cough but take this medicine and it’ll help you.

So, according to Jesus, it looks like whatever we say goes up and that means God hears every word we say.

As you know, when we want to expose our feelings, we say, I feel, I want,  I am so and so, or I believe this and that.  So, Jesus says whatever we are comes from the heart.  For we store the good and the bad in our hearts, for example, beliefs, love, and so forth. Therefore, Jesus wants us to understand the condition of our faith. Some people say, they don’t have faith, some say they do. Some say, I believe in God, but …Well, there you’re; when Jesus says something that’s what it is, and it’ll never be changed.  As we’ve learnt from the Bible, God questions, and we give all kinds of reasons, especially when it comes to faith and our actions.

If you are like me, and you spend time speaking to people from all religious backgrounds you’ll get a shock of what people say when it comes to God and Jesus.  However, as God’s people we have to focus on doing the right thing. The scripture says, when you preach make sure whatever you say is exactly how God wants you to say it.  (I can’t remember where it is in the bible, but I’ll look it up)
