THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS

God knows a human being will always pursue happiness in one way or another.  He created the idea of happiness, for example, we enjoy food, nice weather, and relationships. We don’t know much but God knows everything.

However, many of us pursue happiness in our ambitions, and sometimes, we are deceived by feelings.  The scripture says, the heart is deceitful beyond cure. Jeremiah 17:9-10.  That’s when a person is ruled by feelings, rather than godly wisdom.

Here is the issue, whatever a person pursues rather than God, will always end up in a disappointment along the way.  I’ll explain: disappointments are inevitable because of the influence of Satan. And whatever we pursue in the worldly system carries the negatives and the positives.  Take for example, money and material things which we all go after to meet our needs, but as you know, the negatives are clear to see.  Financial stress is on the top list. As you  know, money talks… (catch me if you can, but if you focus your mind too much on me I will give you stress, aha!!) and it doesn’t discriminate.

God watches – we want this, we want that. The scripture which touched me to revaluate my life, James 4:1-3, which I mentioned before: it says, what causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your inner desires that battle within you? You want something but don’t get it. You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask you do not receive because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.  This scripture also relates to wisdom, James 1;5, if you lack wisdom ask God.

In life you come to a point where you have something as your number one focus.  As you’re aware, some people choose jobs to be their main focus.  Some people it is a marriage, or a family.  Some it is just education, and for others it is the culture, false beliefs, drugs, alcohol or sport.  But a person who has Jesus as their main focus will never get disappointed.  When you have Jesus as your saviour, it pleases God, nothing pleases him more than that.

Jesus brings real happiness into our lives, especially if we listen to him and take his advice about life.  And when it comes to Christmas, God has allowed it to happen as a sign to mankind, therefore followers of Christ should celebrate and be happy because of the Salvation which is yet to come.

The Bible helps us to examine ourselves before God.  Are you on the right track or the wrong one?  I compare my life now to what it was before in the darkness.  It was miserable.  But now that I’m in the light, God has blessed me with much more happiness.  And I know that sharing this message is exactly what God wants me to do – to help somebody else.  God has a way of putting happiness in your heart, when you focus on him, and worship him in truth – through Jesus, for his doesn’t accept any other way.

So when we pursue Jesus, we pursue real happiness.  Christmas which connect us to Jesus, should be celebrated  happily – singing and dancing all day long. Because, he came to save us, so that we can be forgiven. I don’t know about you, but it is the biggest present ever – making us happier than a wedding day.
